Judy Araujo states students need “Rimes” not “Rhymes” for decoding and spelling. I agree, students struggle with vowel sounds. Students are successful decoding continuous text when they are familiar with rimes. A “rime” are the letters that follow the onset, such as b-(at). This list was borrowed from Judy Araujo’s site.
